Save Time and Money with These Top Spray Booth Accessories

If you want to get the maximum use out of your paint booth, consider investing in some upgrades. Accessories such as all-in-one control panels, LED lights, and AMUs improve your booth’s efficiency and performance, and special coatings simplify cleaning. Learn more about how to save money with the right accessories for your spray booth.

Mixing Rooms

It may seem easy to just store your paints, primers, glazes, and other chemicals in the corner of your shop, but keeping these things in the open presents a fire hazard. And it’s difficult to clean up accidental spills all over your shop’s floor.

With a well-built mixing booth, you have a dedicated and safe place to store your paints and stains. All of our mixing rooms are ETL-certified and compliant with NFPA standards. Built-in ventilation systems run continuously, removing the fumes and harmful particles created by mixing and storing paint and other chemicals.

Energy-Efficient LED Lights

Your paint booth probably has lights already, but built-in illumination isn’t always optimal, especially for finishing jobs that require a lot of precision. When you upgrade your booth to energy-efficient LED flat-panel lights. The LED lay-in panels are slim and easy to install, and are suitable for both heated and unheated booths. LED panels drastically reduce energy use, costing you less money on each power bill. Additionally, they last for an extremely long time and come with a five-year warranty.  Our panels have up to 60,000 hours of run time, which equates to over 6 years (if you left them on 24/7). Another great benefit is that your energy company may give you a credit for upgrading to LED so the upgrade isn’t as costly as you think.

Air Makeup Units (AMU)

To keep the proper air pressure in your paint booth, you need to replace the air that gets exhausted during operation. The easiest way to do this is with an air makeup unit (AMU), which balances air pressure inside the booth by automatically providing the right amount of replacement air.

Installing an AMU is a better, more-efficient solution for air pressure management than trying to use the HVAC system to regulate the air pressure in the shop. Plus, AMUs are heated, so there are even more benefits:

  • Faster finish times
  • Temperature control for even curing
  • Fewer airborne particles and contaminants inside the booth

A heated AMU can be one of the most cost-effective upgrades for your paint booth.

Air Hose Storage Solutions

Air hoses that are left can be a tripping hazard. Easily keep your air lines stored in reels to your air hoses from getting tangled or tripped on during operation. Many air line reels can be installed anywhere, and come with automatic retraction systems that prevent the hose from becoming loose or unrolling.

Easy-To-Clean Coatings

To keep your spray booth functioning properly, it’s essential to clean the overspray that gets on the ceiling, walls, and floors. This can be a tedious job, but there are several accessories that can make it easier. White Out coating is a water-based spray that creates a film that covers paint booth walls, restoring a “like new” appearance even in booths with extensive overspray. The new white walls improve light quality in the booth. When the film gets covered with overspray, you can simply peel it off and respray the White Out on your booth’s interior.

It’s vital to keep the air inside the booth as clean as possible to reduce dust and debris that can ruin the quality of a finish. This adds to the life of your paint booth filters and keeps your paint booth fan clean. The Grippy Mat is a floor mat that traps dirt, dust, and overspray, reducing the chance that these particles will enter the airflow inside the booth. Our starter bundle includes a Grippy Mat floor covering, particle control solution, and an easy-to-use sprayer.

Operational controls

A paint booth control panel simplifies operation, allowing you to manage your booth’s lights, exhaust fans, and other crucial hardware from one point of contact. All of our ETL-certified spray booths come with electric control panels. If you purchase an uncertified booth model, you can upgrade to one of our ETL-listed control boxes; we have both single-phase and three-phase models.

WHY DO I HAVE TO COMPLY WITH SAFETY CODES?

If you are reading this posting we can assume that you are smarter than the average person.  You have shown an interest in using and maintaining your paint booth and equipment in a safe and effective manner.  What happens when we neglect safe practices and don’t follow safety codes?

The Great Molasses Flood
Great Molasses Flood

In January of 1919, a molasses storage tank in a Boston neighborhood collapsed sending two million gallons of thick goo in waves through the streets, killing 21 people and injuring over 150 people. It’s known as the “Great Molasses Flood”. The city had deemed the structure unsafe for the weight of the material stored but had not enforced its findings.

Cocoanut Grove Night Club after the fire
Cocoanut Grove Night Club

On November 28th 1942, a huge fire occurred at the Cocoanut Grove Night Club in Boston. 492 people perished in total. The Cocoanut Grove was originally a speakeasy—an illegal bar during alcohol Prohibition—and some of its doors were bricked up or bolted shut. During the 1990s, former Boston Fire Fighter and researcher Charles Kenney had discovered and concluded that the presence of a highly flammable gas propellant in the refrigeration systems—methyl chloride—greatly contributed to the flashover and quick spread of the fire (there was a shortage of freon in 1942 due to the war effort). As a result of the Cocoanut Grove fire and tragedy, the fire ordinances were expanded.

Install Your Own Paint Booth & Save Thousands

There is a huge distinction between being “Handy” and being a “Do-It-Yourself-er”. I am not necessarily “handy”, which is great because the handy friend always gets asked to help build a garage for your neighbor or a brick patio for your mother. Nope, I’m not a “Handy” person, but I am a practical DIY’er. I figure; if I can learn how to do something correctly, why pay someone else to do it for me?

Having a professional installer might seem like the ideal situation. After all, some bigger jobs are a bit scary at the beginning. But, Installers are expensive… and if you’re like me, why pay someone else between $4,000 and $8,000 (depending on type of booth and if it’s heated) to do something that you can do for FREE? That could be more than 1/2 the cost of the booth!

“Did you say I could do it for free?”  That’s right! You can save all that money and do it yourself! Don’t worry — We have specifically designed our booths to be easy to install for the average person and a friend that is willing to help. Don’t worry about all the electrical components, we recommend that you hire a licensed electrician to come wire and connect your power source once your booth is in place.

DSC_0039bwHow do we design these booths to be easy to install?

First – We pack your booth with almost everything you will need to install it with the exception of your light bulbs (those tend to break in the shipping) and your electrical wiring (local codes vary) … You won’t get halfway through putting it together to find your missing a part to finish the job.

Second – We give you really exceptional directions on how to set it up and labeled panels, including a 1-800 to call with any questions or issues you run into. Our paint booth expert installer, John, is excellent at walking you through it.

Third- We send you the best materials to help you put it together fast, and correctly. Not every paint booth out there is easy to install….. What sets us apart from the competition is our progressive use of the TEK screw to fasten your booth together.  Now, you wouldn’t think a screw would make all that much of a difference but picture this: You’re on a ladder, reaching across two paint booth panels. While trying hard to keep your balance, you have to line up the holes on these two large pieces of metal, keep together your nut and bolt and then use a wrench to tighten it all together. Not so easy.

Now, imagine this: You’re on that same ladder; a drill in one hand and the other hand is on the joint… holding the screw. You slowly put the drill on the screw, hit the button… the screw zips in, securing the panels and your done. Easy, right?

Why do we use these TEK screws instead of nut and bolt assembly?

Lining up holes and assembling nuts, washers and bolts can be frustrating when dealing with large panels of metal and ladders. The TEK Screw is not always understood, sometimes because it seems just too easy. Cut the number of steps necessary to complete your installation by using screws that are self-drilling (meaning they drill their own hole) and then tap threads to combine the two pieces of metal.

All of our paint booths use TEK screw technology because they were specifically designed for use in sheet metal building construction to withstand the rigors of heavy use and increase the speed of construction. The TEK Screw is by far the easiest and fastest assembly method on the market today.  Watch our video on the Tek Screw vs. Nut & Bolt assembly to see just how easy it really is.

There are many stages between researching your new paint booth options and walking in your new booth to start painting. Our team is here to help you during each step. With over 20 years of experience, we’re experts in our field. We’ll help you find the right booth, customize it and get it setup to use! Let’s get started.
